Fall 2025 Semester Classes

Below is a breakdown of the classes we offered.

All-Morning Classes, 9:00 am - 11:50 am

Nursery - $0

We have a nursery available for infants-2 years old who have older siblings in 2nd grade or above attending the co-op.. The nursery will have at least 2 adults in it at all times. There is no charge for the nursery; however, you will be responsible for providing all nut-free snacks, drinks, diapers, etc. for your child.

Preschool -$15

Available for 3 and 4 year old children (as of first day of co-op) who have older siblings in 2nd grade or above attending the co-op. There will be a variety of subjects covered through hands on learning and play. This class is a courtesy class for our younger children and is a supplement to anything they are learning at home with you. One class period will also be used for a snack/recess time. Please follow age guidelines when signing up regardless what level curriculum your child is working on at home. You will be responsible for all drinks and nut-free snacks for your child.

Kindergarten - $20

Available for 5 and 6 year (as of first day of co-op) old children who have older siblings in 2nd grade or above attending the co-opStudents will stay in one classroom for the entire morning and will have some form of mathematics and reading, as well as other areas of learning. This class is a supplement to what your child is learning at home with you.  One class period will also be used for a snack/recess time. Please follow age guidelines when signing up regardless what level curriculum your child is working on at home.  You will be responsible for providing all nut-free snacks and drinks for your child.

1st Grade - $20

Available for 6 and 7 year (as of first day of co-op) old children who have older siblings in 2nd grade or above attending the co-opStudents will stay in one classroom for the entire morning and will learn the basics for language, math, and science through science experiments and other hands on learning techniques. One class period will also be used for a snack/recess time. Please follow age guidelines when signing up regardless what level curriculum your child is working on at home. You will be responsible for providing all nut-free snacks and drinks for your child.

1st Period Classes, 9:00 am - 9:50 am

​

Storybook STEAM, 2nd-3rd grades - $15

In this class, we will bring storybooks to life by immersing ourselves in their worlds while touching on many different subjects! We will work as illustrators, scientists, engineers, historians, crafters, archeologists, and more as we do STEAM projects based on the stories we read. Students will also expand their knowledge of story elements as well as some grammatical terms. Each week, students will be introduced to their peer's favorite stories in a “show and tell” time with the opportunity to share their own all with the hope to grow and foster each student's love of reading. At the end of the semester, students will have an exhibit and/or presentation related to wha we have learned.​

PE, 2nd-3rd grades - $5

P.E. Class will consist of fun exercising games. Students will learn good exercise habits while having fun and exhibiting good sportsmanship. Dodgeball, jump rope, soccer, basketball, gaga ball, and kickball are just some of the many activities we will be doing.​

​

Breakfast Cooking, 4th-5th grades - $60

Breakfast basics! Learn to crack an egg, flip a cake, and sizzle up some bacon! Every week we will learn some breakfast basics that your kids can take home and demonstrate increased independence in the kitchen. The goal is to always finish up in class so the kids can eat their creation for a late breakfast start or they are welcome to put it away and save for lunch. We only accommodate to the no nut allergy and no other allergies. There will be gluten and dairy in the meals.

Basic Spanish Vocabulary Builder, 4th-5th grades - $10

In our Spanish Basic Vocabulary Builder class we will focus on a new set of vocabulary terms each week. Months, Days, Numbers, Letters, Household Items, Clothing, Colors, School Items, Animals, Foods, Directions, etc…

​

Mythology, 6th-8th grades - $15

We will be studying popular Greek and Roman myths as well as mythological creatures: their lore, their themes, and what Scripture has to say about them. This class will include some writing as well as projects. Students need to have pens, colors, glue, and scissors.​

​

3D Art, 6th-8th grades - $40

3D art, art that stands on its own. Students will explore art in a variety of mediums that will be anything but typical. From paintings that try to escape to paper that is anything but flat, the kids will have a blast making art that feels alive. Come create with us!

 

Fundamentals Drama, 6th-8th grades - $20

This class will be focusing on activities, short scene performances, and improv games to help students build self-confidence as they learn drama and speech skills. These acting exercises focus on stage movement, using props, showing emotion through facial expression, movement with music, and speaking in front of an audience. Our goal is to develop effective oral expression and stage presence, as well as learning fundamental theater-related terms and concepts.

 

**This class is perfect for beginners, students who are shy or need more practice speaking and performing, and students who want to perform but can't commit to extra outside rehearsals that the advanced class requires. We will have a short non-speaking skit in the end of the semester party, and will not require any outside rehearsals ***except for the last 2 dress rehearsals, the last day of co-op and day of production.

Study Hall, 6th-12th grades - $0

Study Hall is for middle/high schoolers who need to do homework, study, or other busy work in a quiet environment. Each student must have busy work to do the entire class period.​

​

Dave Ramsey Financial Peace, 9th-12th grades - $25

This course is a complete, dynamic, high school curriculum written by Dave Ramsey. It teaches students about saving, investing, credit, debt, money management, and more from a biblical perspective. This class can count as either a high school elective credit or a consumer math credit. In order for your student to receive the full credit, they will need to take this class in both the Fall AND Spring semesters. They will be expected to complete all assignments, even if they miss a week of co-op. There will be work for them to complete at home during the week, and they will be graded on all assignments. With the exception of pen and paper, the class fee covers all materials needed this semester.​

Chemistry, 9th-12th grades - $50

This high school two-semester course will cover foundational chemistry and chemistry lab. This course will require approximately 5 hours of course work outside of the co-op class per week. Pre-Algebra or Algebra should be completed before taking this class. Course work will include weekly in-class labs and instruction. At home, students will complete a weekly lab write-up, reading and tests through Master Books Chemistry curriculum. In addition, supplemental material and practice problems will be posted in Google Classroom. Each student will need access to Google Classroom and the internet at home to complete and submit their work.

Immediate Guitar, 9th-12th grades - $0

Designed for students who have completed at least one year of guitar instruction at Step-Up. Experienced players who have not participated in the beginner class but feel that they can play on an intermediate level may enroll with board approval after submitting a video demonstrating their abilities. There will be an end of year performance.

In order for your child to be pre-approved for this class, you will need to email your child's request to stepupcoop@gmail.com by June 13th. Final placement into the appropriate class for each child will be at the board's discretion and placement notification will be sent via email prior to registration.

2nd Period Classes, 10:00 am - 10:50 am

Lively Learning with Laura, 2nd-3rd grades - $15

In "Lively Learning with Laura,"or "LLL," you never know what you'll learn when you walk through the door. Each class will be a new adventure! We may be outside playing gaga ball, capture the flag,or tag. We may be learning self defense or creating art projects. How about we sprinkle in some astronomy, geography, basic finances, and first aid! You name it, we'll probably cover it and have fun while we learn!

The Good and the Beautiful Marine Biology, 2nd-3rd grades - $15

​Explore whales, sharks, and other mysterious ocean creatures in Marine Biology. We will take a closer look at God's amazing ocean through topics like ocean zones, coral reefs, and all types of marine creatures.​

​

Unlocking Geology, 4th-5th grades - $25

If you like rocks and minerals, bring some of your favorites to show the class, and join us for some fun as we study geology by breaking codes and geodes, solving geological puzzles, unlocking treasures, panning for gold, growing crystals, polishing rocks and more.

​

Hand Stitching/Decorative Embroidery, 4th-5th grades - $15

Come learn how to sew by hand! We will learn how to sew on buttons, make a pillowcase, and fix the hole you put in your jeans! Cute but functional is the goal of this class.

Forensic Science, 6th-8th grade - $15

​This hands-on class introduces students to the basic of forensic science and crime scene investigation. Through engaging lesson and experiments, students learn how science is used to solve crimes.​

​

Italian, 6th-8th grade - $10

​Basics of conversational Italian and grammar. Greetings, numbers, colors, etc.

​

Beginning Guitar, 6th-12th grades - $25

Students who “pick” this class will learn to put the “strum” in “instrument.” This class is for students who have little or no experience playing guitar. The class will be working in one “A-chord” on a somewhat small “scale” as no more than 10 students will be in the class. Each student will need their own acoustic guitar. There will be an end of year performance.

Performance Drama, 6th-12th grades - $40

​(THERE WILL BE AUDITIONS/ DRAMA CLINIC IN JUNE AND JULY FOR THIS CLASS. Dates will be posted on Facebook page.) This class will be rehearsing a play that will be performed at the end of the semester party! Skills we will be focusing on include stage movement, using props, showing emotion through facial and body expression, and speaking in front of an audience.

​*** THERE WILL BE REHEARSALS OUTSIDE OF CLASS and students are required to be there when they are scheduled. These rehearsals will be 1 to 2 hours per week. This is a commitment and a team effort, just like any class or sport. Students who continually miss with no prior notice may lose their part or not be allowed back the following semester. Toward the end of the semester, there will be a few rehearsals that will extend to 3 or 4 hours in length as they practice in full costume with props, sound, and lighting changes. If we need props and costumes, I will always try to borrow items before making purchases to save everyone money and storage space.

Study Hall, 6th-12th grades - $0

Study Hall is for middle/high schoolers who need to do homework, study, or other busy work in a quiet environment. Each student must have busy work to do the entire class period.

Interactive Government, 9th-12th grades - $15

Would your teen rather hit the snooze button than read a government textbook? Learning about local, state and federal government - and getting high school credit - doesn't have to be like listening to the teacher from Charlie Brown! We'll use fun, interactive activities that help high school students connect with and understand our government...maybe even find some career interest!

Sourdough 101, 9th-12th grades - $50

Learn how to make a sourdough started and use it! We will be making a starter from scratch and using it during the semester to make sourdough discard recipes. At the end of the year I will show them how to make bread and they will get to try their skills at home. Students will be required to feed their starter at home and bring their discard back to co-op every Monday. We can not accommodate food allergies.

3rd Period Classes, 11:00 am - 11:50 am

​

Gather Round Pets, 2nd-3rd grades - $10

We will learn about different types of pets, such as dogs, cats, snakes, birds, horses, and more! We will learn how to feed, train, and take care of each pet and see real-life pictures of several breeds of each animal. We will also learn about regular checkups, wing clipping, hoof trimming, and more!

Talent Show, 2nd-3rd grades - $5

IGet ready to shine! In this fun and energetic class, students will explore and develop their unique talents- whether they already have a special skill, or need help discovering what makes them shine. From singing and dancing, to magic tricks, comedy, or creative storytelling, we'll help each child prepare a confident performance. This class will end with an exciting talent show where every student gets their moment in the spotlight.
Note: This class will "end" several weeks early, and the performance will be separate from our end of semester get together. The remaining weeks of the semester for this class will be show and tell and playing games together. (think board games, games the kids make up, PE style games, etc)

Weather Wonders, 4th-5th grades - $10

This science class explores the wonders of weather, covering topics from basic meteorological concepts to cloud formation and different types of storms. It also includes lots of experiments, hands-on activities and literacy/math integration to make learning fun and engaging!

​

Young Engineers., 4th-5th grades - $20

Young Engineers: Build, Create, Innovate! Get ready for hands-on engineering fun! Each class, you’ll design, build, and test your own creations—from egg landers and rubber band cars to mini roller coasters and robots! Learn real-world engineering skills through exciting challenges and take home your projects each week. Bring your creativity and get ready to invent!

P.E./Martial Arts, 6th-8th grades - $15

In this dynamic PE class, students will explore physical fitness through a variety of fun and engaging activities, including team sports, fitness circuits and an introduction to martial arts. The martial arts component will focus on basic techniques, self-discipline, respect, and self-confidence while promoting flexibility, coordination, and strength. Students will learn the value of perseverence and teamwork as they build both physical and mental skills in a safe, supportive environment.

Dystopian Literature, 6th-8th grades - $10

In this class, we will be reading and discussing two classic dystopian novels: The Giver and City of Ember. Students will be expected to read outside of class and be ready to discuss the chapters in class. A final project will be completed at the end of the semester. A physical copy of both books are needed for class and can be purchased for an additional cost through the teacher. Feel free to check the books out of a library or purchase them on your own.

Screwtape Letters/A Christmas Carol Lit Class, 9th-12th grades -  $15

C.S. Lewis’s The Screwtape Letters is a Christian classic that forces the reader to consider several approaches to how Satan works to influence human life. Taking the vantage of a chief demon writing letters to his nephew, this book’s message is challenging. As one introduction says, “The Screwtape Letters is the most engaging account of temptation—and triumph over it—ever written.”
Then changing the pace, we will finish the semester with a holiday classic, A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens. Many know the story, but not everyone has taken the time to reflect on the truths that should penetrate deep in our hearts as we learn to love humankind.
Be ready to engage the texts and your classmates as we discuss these works.

Advanced Guitar, 9th-12th grades - $0

This class is for third-year students who have taken the beginner and intermediate classes, have board approval to advance or for those recommended to be placed at this level after an audition video has been sent in. There will be an end of year performance.

Home Economics, 9th-12th grades - $15

This semester in home economics we will learn a variety of different life skills. We will dabble in balancing finances and creating a budget, proper nutrition and how to create a household menu, how to grocery shop and prepare a meal based off said menu, basic house keeping and laundry needs, home and car maintenance, basic first aid and how to do minor sewing tasks, and lastly proper table and phone etiquette.
